Welcome to my blog! I thought my first post should be one that allows my readers to get to know me a little better. I’ve been blogging for as long as I can remember – first on Myspace (remember that?? that definitely dates me…) and then on WordPress. This is my first fashion blog – my other blog that I’ve been keeping for years is mostly book reviews and posts about my travels. That didn’t seem like the right place to talk about fashion, although my content here might also overlap with the content there.
So what makes me different from the rest of the fashion bloggers out there? Well, for starters, I’m a public librarian who enjoys dressing fashionably. Librarians usually get a bad reputation for being frumpy dressers who only wear sensible shoes and their hair in a bun, but I’m trying to show everyone that stereotype is not always true! The librarian you grew up with may have looked like that, but I assure you there’s a whole community of fashionable librarians out there.
I live in Indianapolis, Indiana with my husband and two cats. Yes, the cat stereotype IS true. What’s a librarian without her cats? 😉
In addition to fashion posts, I might post about food, books or my travels from time to time. I love exploring new places and have been to 48 states, Italy, Greece, England, France, Ireland, Scotland, Mexico, most of Canada and various islands in the Caribbean. Wanderlust is strong with this librarian.
If you are interested in where I found something, I will try to link it if it’s still available or find something similar. I definitely won’t harass you to buy stuff from me – I like to keep things real and honest and will share products or shops I truly love.
Mostly, I shop local, at Target or Nordstrom and love a good band tee. My style varies and I truly only wear what I love, not just because something is “in.” I try to buy things on sale and will hunt something down on Poshmark if I think it’s too expensive retail! Second hand is a great way to find things you love at discount prices.
In this post, I am wearing this top from Free People. The color I’m wearing is out of stock and was a clearance item from last year but the new colors are just as pretty. My flats are Rocket Dog brand but I’ve had them for probably ten years. Hat is from Target!
I love interacting with readers! Shoot me an e-mail and be sure to follow me on Instagram @ librarian.style.
